Job Summary

Responsibilities

- Provide nutrition counseling and health coaching to motivate behavioral changes and support weight management, chronic disease management, and specialized dietary needs.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other specialists to coordinate care effectively.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to document assessments, interventions, progress notes, and care plans accurately.
- Manage clinical nutrition support including tube feeding protocols and nutritional supplementation for patients requiring specialized feeding methods.
- Supervise dietetic interns or junior staff when applicable, ensuring adherence to best practices in dietetics and patient safety standards.
- Stay current with advancements in clinical nutrition, physiology knowledge, and diagnostic evaluation techniques to provide evidence-based care.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of physiology, medical nutrition therapy (MNT), and clinical nutrition principles.
- Proven experience in nutrition counseling, motivational interviewing, and health coaching techniques.
- Strong understanding of diagnostic evaluation processes related to nutritional deficiencies or metabolic conditions.
- Ability to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual dietary needs across various populations including geriatrics and patients with chronic illnesses.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient record management.
- Experience working with individuals requiring specialized nutrition support such as tube feeding or enteral/parenteral nutrition.
- Supervising experience in a healthcare setting is preferred for leadership development within the team.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on nutrition-related topics.
- Background in hospital or acute care environments is highly desirable for managing complex cases efficiently.
- Knowledge of weight loss strategies, chronic disease management programs, and long-term care practices enhances your ability to deliver holistic nutritional care.
