Position Overview
Great River Children’s Museum is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented Communications & Administrative Coordinator to support the museum’s communications, marketing, fundraising, and administrative efforts.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys storytelling, content creation, relationship-building, and helping mission-driven organizations connect with their communities. The coordinator will help create and manage print and digital communications, support fundraising and donor engagement efforts, maintain organized records and assets, and assist with administrative coordination across departments.
The person in this role will work closely with the Director of Development, VP of Operations, CEO, and other museum staff and volunteers to help tell the story of GRCM and strengthen community engagement.

Write, edit, and distribute newsletters, donor communications, press releases, blog posts, fundraising appeals, and other museum communications

Create, design, and schedule engaging social media content

Support consistent branding and messaging across print and digital platforms

Make minor updates to the museum website, including events, programs, images, and content

Prepare print and digital assets and coordinate print orders with vendors

Capture photos and video content during museum events and programs

Assist with storytelling and content development that promotes museum programs, fundraising, and community engagement

Organize and maintain digital assets, templates, photos, reports, and communication materials

Assist with presentations and communication materials for internal and external audiences

Support fundraising campaigns and special events through administrative coordination

Maintain donor and membership database records and reporting

Assist with sponsorship fulfillment and donor recognition efforts

Help document processes and procedures for future organizational use

Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, public relations, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered

At least one year of experience creating graphics and content for social media platforms

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Experience working with a variety of audiences and stakeholder groups

Commitment to inclusivity, collaboration, and relationship-building

Passion for the mission of Great River Children’s Museum

Experience working in a nonprofit organization

Experience with donor or membership databases such as Blackbaud Altru

Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, CapCut, or similar content creation tools

Experience with photography and videography

Experience working in a startup or growing organization

Experience working with children’s museums or similar organizations

Fluency in languages other than English
