POSITION TITLE: Level III Technician, Data Center Fiber Optic
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

ADB is seeking a Level III Technician to provide advanced support on various data center projects within the ADB Technology group. This role will lead the installation of servers and networking equipment in a fast-paced data center environment. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert, customer and quality-centric, a strong belief in the safety and well-being of our team members, a strong work ethic, and ALL IN attitude to achieve results.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer advanced support on Data Center, ISP and OSP projects in a variety of customer facilities nationwide, with the expert ability to determine equipment needs, cable route, cable direction, safety best practices, and perform splicing functions within a live customer facility
- Accurately inventory and install various IT hardware including, but not limited to backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures
- Maintains proper inventory of equipment and consumable stock to ensure projects are completed timely
- Possesses expert knowledge and skillsets to utilize various hand tools to complete splices including diagonal cutters, razor blades, ribbon splitters, etc.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret complex construction prints, splice matrices, cable pathway matrices, and drawings to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled
- Perform advanced OTDR and power meter testing with expert understanding of equipment results regarding fiber specifications per job for customer test data reporting and deliverables
- Perform advanced splicing/testing equipment maintenance, read/process test results and problem solve issues using test equipment software
- Perform complex fiber and copper cable installation including single and/or ribbon splices, aerial, underground, ISP cable routing, cable termination, assembly, and dressing to satisfy customer requirements
- Possess an expert understanding of cable color code and large cable count numbering; create labels for installed equipment and cables to ensure satisfactory customer deliverables
- Add and remove non-powered cables and equipment following the scope of the project, with the ability to install cable pathways (i.e., J-hooks, support rings, cable slings, cable trays, ladder racks, etc.) and ground/bond IT equipment
- Perform complex cable relocations and hot cuts while maintaining cable organization
- Ability to install and/or research installation procedures for all splicing enclosures
- Consistently meets production expectations, ensuring company and customer property cleanliness and quality standards are met
- Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders, responding timely to critical situations or emergency outages with sense of urgency, to offer customer-centric solutions as problems arise
- Collaborate with qualified DC power technicians to terminate and connect secondary DC power installations to an active power bay
- Creates Smart Sheets and Excel trackers to accurately track project schedules and progress
- Proactively identifies and escalates project and personnel issues to operational leadership where appropriate
- Effective leader and trainer of other crew members; leads by example, ensure all company safety, quality, production, performance and conduct expectations are followed
- Serves as an ADB Culture Champion leading, driving, and participating in ADB culture pillar events
- Utilizes expert-level splicing skills to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements across ADB’s Data Center group
- Possesses advanced understanding of safety risks, constantly assesses potential safety hazards, while working in a safety sensitive position and adhering to all ADB and customer safety requirements and standards
- Performs other position duties when requested

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This role will support Data Center, ISP and OSP Projects in a variety of customer facilities nationwide
- Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions like sitting, squatting, standing, walking, climbing, etc.
- May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels while onsite
- When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and steel toed boots.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- 3-7+ years of cable installation and/or splicing experience required
- OSHA 10 certification preferred (ability to obtain upon hire required)
- OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred
- Man lifts and CPR certification preferred (ability to obtain upon hire required)
- Bucket truck certification preferred (ability to obtain upon hire required)
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card required
- Valid driver license with clear driving record required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
The starting pay for this position is $34/hr and may vary based on the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
