JOB SUMMARY
The position is an Intern position and is required to learn practical knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform functions required of a Licensed Certified Pharmacy Technician. The Technician Intern will assist Pharmacy Technician’s with preparing medications for Pharmacist to dispense to customers or health professionals. In addition, this position will perform customer service functions to include but not limited to accepting, routing and releasing customer’s prescription orders, processing insurance and customer payments utilizing point of sale equipment, maintaining and organizing inventory and pharmacy premises.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Gain necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities require to process prescriptions; intake, typing, filling, and prepping for Pharmacist to verify customer prescription orders timely and efficiently.
- Obtain the necessary knowledge of processing patient insurance and prescription payments to include the requirements of each insurances’ pharmacy prescription benefits.
- Deliver exceptional customer service in all communication channels to both internal and external customers.
- Learn the process workflow for Inventory Management: Receive, Record, Track and Stock inventory.
- Maintain and ensure that pharmacy is organized and sanitary.
- All other duties as assigned by Pharmacist-In-Charge, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor/Lead and Pharmacy Operations Manager.
- Upon completion of hours required to obtain Guam Pharmacy Technician License, the Intern will transition to a Pharmacy Technician I.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma required, some college level coursework in Pharmacology a plus but not required.
- Current, valid certificate as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) highly preferred.
- Must be able to complete the required internship hours associated with becoming a Licensed Pharmacy Technician.
- Must be able to clear an OIG Exclusions Search.
- Must be able to deliver exceptional customer service while under extreme pressure.
- Must demonstrate the ability to remain personable and professional when dealing with difficult customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- May be standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and leaning up to 90% of the time.
- May be seated for short or long periods of time utilizing office equipment such as a calculator, cash register, computer and other pharmaceutical equipment.
- Must be able to count, pinch, pick, write and lift with or without assistance.
