Summary:
The Loan Processor is responsible for processing applications, loans, and documentation for mortgages, home equities, and consumer loans. This position collects, verifies the accuracy, and analyzes information needed for underwriting loans and/or qualifying loans for sale in the secondary market, and preparing documents for closing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews new files for items needed from lender to ensure compliance with all laws and Bank policies.
- Prepares disclosures, acknowledgement forms, verification of deposit, verification of employment forms, and other documents required by the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA).
- Forwards RESPA documents to customers and lenders according to legal timeframes.
- Assists branch network with questions and concerns regarding RESPA documents and mortgage loan closing documents.
- Advises customer contact personnel of any changes in Bank policy or regulations that may impact mortgage, home equities or consumer loan services.
- Provides credit reports to appropriate customer service personnel on prospective borrowers within proper procedure.
- Assists with loan application processing tasks, e.g., obtains required information, compiles data, etc., as directed.
- Provides information for, and assists in the preparation of, various loan reports as directed.
- Prepares a variety of letters and forms such as commitment letters.
- Calculates estimated payments in loan origination systems.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for increased efficiencies as appropriate.
- Research information required by management or regulatory agencies.
- Comply with government, regulatory and Bank policies, and procedures.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in mortgage, home equities and consumer loans preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Performance Expectations:
- Working understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations, and compliance within the loan origination environment, as well as Bank loan policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations.
- Familiar with real estate lending compliance, including but not limited to Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure (TRID), Fair Lending and Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA).
- Familiar with closing various types of mortgage loans products to include confirming, portfolio, government, and construction loans.
- Collaborate, creatively problem-solve, and think critically.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with others in a timely and friendly manner.
- Work under demanding time constraints and expectations, including prioritizing and handling multiple tasks throughout the day.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Position is located at the business center and requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
- Ability to travel to training and branch locations, community and company sponsored events.
- Ability to tolerate moderate noise levels.
- Ability to sit or remain sedentary for prolonged periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive movement by constant operation of all office and computer equipment as required to perform position, such as a computer, copier/printer, fax, calculator/adding machine.
- Ability to communicate with others to exchange information through telephone conversations, email, writing letters and memos and face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams.
