Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Medical Technology Assistant to support our medical technology team. In this hybrid role, you will manage vital administrative workflows that keep our laboratory and clinical operations running smoothly. Your primary responsibilities will include managing laboratory paperwork, securing prior authorizations, coordinating patient referrals, and maintaining medical records and communication logs. As a dedicated assistant to the med tech team, you will handle the administrative heavy lifting so our technicians can focus on testing and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Med Tech Team Support: Provide direct administrative assistance to the medical technology team, prep necessary paperwork, track pending test orders, and help resolve operational bottlenecks.
- Prior Authorizations: Submit, track, and secure prior authorizations from insurance providers for complex laboratory tests and procedures, document approvals in patient charts to prevent billing delays.
- Communication & Fax Management: Oversee and maintain the digital and physical fax boxes, triage incoming medical requests, distribute paperwork to the appropriate staff, and send outgoing laboratory results.
- Referral Coordination: Process and manage patient referrals to external specialists or partner laboratories; compile required medical histories and ensure a seamless transfer of patient data.
- Laboratory Documentation: Organize, index, and process laboratory requisitions, sample logs, and diagnostic reports in strict compliance with CLIA and HIPAA regulations.
- Medical Records Management: Maintain accurate and secure Electronic Health Records, scan physical documentation, update data fields, and ensure clinical records are complete and audit-ready.
Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; formal training in medical administration or health information technology is a plus.
- Experience: 1–2 years of experience in a medical office, clinic, or diagnostic laboratory setting. Proven experience handling prior authorizations and medical faxes/records is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with EHR/EMR systems, digital fax platforms, and basic office software (Microsoft Office & Google Workspace).
- Core Competencies: Exceptional attention to detail, strong multi-tasking abilities, clear communication skills, and a collaborative mindset suited for a busy team environment.
- Knowledge Base: Familiarity with medical terminology, basic laboratory workflows, and standard insurance authorization processes.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
