Anvil Innovations Shop Welding Supervisor
Job summary
- We are seeking an experienced Welding Supervisor who can impart their knowledge and experience daily in practical ways. In this position, you will work in a manufacturing facility to build hydraulic, cable, diesel-hydraulic, and electro-hydraulic grapples and clamshell buckets.
Responsibilities
- Move throughout and work within a fabrication shop environment while maintaining a strong safety focus and actively identifying hazards to protect yourself and your team
- Mentor and train less experienced welders, ensuring safe skill development
- Ensure all equipment, materials, and parts are staged ahead of production to maintain efficient workflow
- Communicate and coordinate job progress with Operations Management, Quality Control, and the Fitting Supervisor
- Enforce company rules and procedures consistently, without compromising safety or quality
- Inspect and sign off on completed welding tasks
- Maintain effective interpersonal relationships and resolve minor conflicts within the team
- Read and understand all job-related documentation
- Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions, and communicate them clearly to the team
- Ensure crew efficiency, accurate timekeeping, and proper housekeeping
- Operate or learn to operate forklifts, gantry cranes, and jib cranes
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and contribute to shop morale
- Continuously coach employees to improve welding techniques and performance
- Promote a safe and productive work environment
Requirements
- Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and pre-job briefings
- Read and use a tape measure and other measuring tools accurately
- Perform basic math, including whole numbers and fractional measurements
- Possess knowledge of tools and equipment required for structural welding
- Perform essential job functions without assistance, including:
- Lifting and moving up to 50 lbs
- Climbing ladders
- Bending and squatting for extended periods
- Using sledgehammers up to 20 lbs
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure team compliance
- Report unsafe conditions and recommend safety improvements
Qualifications and skills
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Education directly related to welding and/or fitting obtained through a trade or vocational school program and/or 5+ years experience operating as a fitting supervisor and/or welder/fitter supervisor or a form of apprenticeship welding training
- Ability to pass a full background check and drug screen
