Front Desk Clerk / Guest Service Agent
About Us We are a 65‑room limited‑service hotel with a small, dependable team. Our Front Desk Clerks are essential to daily operations — welcoming guests, solving problems, and keeping the property running smoothly. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, calm under pressure, and comfortable working independently.
Position Overview
As a Guest Service Agent, you will manage check‑ins, guest inquiries, and routine operational tasks. This is an active role that requires multitasking, good judgment, and professionalism, especially during times when management is not on‑site.
Pay & Schedule
- $17 per hour
- Morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required
- Full‑time or part‑time opportunities based on availability
- Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality are essential
- Some shifts may be solo depending on staffing and time of day
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
- Provide welcoming, efficient check‑in and check‑out experiences
- Manage reservations, cancellations, and modifications accurately
- Answer guest questions about the hotel and local area
- Address guest concerns professionally and escalate when appropriate
Daily Operations
- Handle cash, balance the drawer, and process payments
- Monitor cameras and maintain awareness of hotel security
- Complete shift checklists, logs, and required reports
- Coordinate room status and special requests with housekeeping
- Restock lobby supplies and assist with small operational tasks
- Deliver items to guest rooms when needed
Property & Housekeeping Support
- Assist with laundry as needed
- Help maintain cleanliness inside the lobby, public areas, and exterior entryways
- Support housekeeping with small tasks or coordination during busy periods
- Perform other duties as assigned to support smooth hotel operations
Realistic Expectations
- You may work alone for portions of your shift
- You will handle guest issues without immediate manager availability
- You will multitask: phones, guests, housekeeping coordination, laundry, and system work
- You will occasionally interact with upset guests and must remain calm and professional
- You will follow established procedures for safety, incidents, and after‑hours situations
What We’re Looking For
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stay calm, think clearly, and make sound decisions independently
- Comfortable using computers and learning hotel software
- Attention to detail in a fast‑paced environment
- Hospitality experience is helpful but not required
- A reliable, consistent presence — our team depends on each other
