Job Summary
East Texas Beef Processors is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Scale Operator to join our USDA-inspected processing facility team. The Scale Operator plays a critical role in daily production operations by accurately weighing products, maintaining production records, printing labels, and ensuring compliance with USDA regulations and company standards.
This position requires strong attention to detail, basic computer skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced food production environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial scales and weighing systems accurately
- Weigh incoming and outgoing meat products, trim, combos, and boxed product
- Print and apply correct USDA labels and product tags
- Verify product weights, lot numbers, dates, and packaging information
- Maintain accurate production logs and records
- Ensure all labels comply with USDA and company requirements
- Communicate with production, packaging, harvest, and office staff regarding weights and inventory
- Monitor product flow and assist with tracking yields and production totals
- Enter production data into computer systems and spreadsheets
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of scale areas
- Follow all USDA, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and food safety regulations
- Assist with inventory counts and product reconciliation as needed
- Report equipment malfunctions or discrepancies immediately
Qualifications
- Previous experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or production environments preferred
- Basic computer and data entry skills required
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Must be dependable and punctual
- Ability to work in cold environments and around raw meat products
- Knowledge of USDA regulations and labeling requirements is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when needed
- Ability to work in refrigerated production environments
- Repetitive hand and arm movements may be required
