Assists in the repair and maintenance of equipment or machinery. Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Promotes safety through proper safe work procedures and adherence to employee safety programs.
- Inspects and keeps equipment maintained in a safe operating condition.
- Maintains compliance with the organizational safety and accident prevention program.
- Adheres to all CAL/OSHA and company safety policies (Lock Out Tag Out, Machine Guarding, power tool usage, etc)
- Follows all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and quality policies and regulations.
- Actively promote a culture of Safety by working with peers to identify and correct workplace safety issues.
- Conducts routine safety checks to ensure workspace is free from potential safety risks while working with overall bakery team to promote a safe workplace environment.
- Ensures new machines are prepared for operation following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency.
- Collects data on machine operation to help monitor and reduce machine downtime.
- Performs assigned work with support from a Mechanic A and/or while under the direction and support of a supervisor.
- Handles routine corrective and preventative maintenance work orders and other issues.
- May assist with more complex problems, while working in tandem with a supervisor or Mechanic A.
- May assist with installation or tear down projects while working with a team.
- Typically works as a group with the Supervisor and other mechanics.
- Documents repairs and other work in the CMMS system via use of an assigned tablet.
