We are seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to support a fast-paced mechanical construction project in Hilliard, Ohio. This short-term assignment will provide field safety oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection installation activities.
The Safety Coordinator will work closely with project leadership, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel to identify hazards, reinforce site safety expectations, and help ensure work is completed in accordance with OSHA standards and project-specific safety requirements.
This position requires a visible field presence, strong communication skills, and the ability to address safety concerns without disrupting project productivity. The selected contractor must be comfortable working six days per week in an active construction environment.
Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections, audits, and field observations
Monitor HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection activities for safety compliance
Identify, document, communicate, and follow up on unsafe conditions or work practices
Support daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations
Verify proper PPE use and compliance with site-specific safety procedures
Assist with contractor and subcontractor safety coordination
Review job hazard analyses, JSAs, and other activity-specific safety documentation
Investigate incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses
Track corrective actions through completion
Maintain accurate inspection reports, safety logs, and project documentation
Reinforce OSHA requirements and project safety expectations with field personnel
Partner with project leadership to promote accountability and a proactive safety culture
OSHA 510 certification
Minimum of 3 years of construction safety experience
Previous experience supporting mechanical construction projects
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and fire protection operations
Strong understanding of OSHA construction standards and safe work practices
Experience conducting inspections, documenting hazards, and managing corrective actions
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with project leadership and field teams
Ability to work approximately 60 hours per week, Monday through Saturday
Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, and navigate an active construction site
Ability to communicate professionally and confidently with subcontractors and craft personnel
Strong attention to detail and consistent documentation practices
Ability to respond promptly to changing jobsite conditions and safety concerns
Must be authorized and prepared to work as a 1099 independent contractor
Must be available to begin the assignment as soon as possible
