As a trusted behavioral health organization committed to providing care in the community since 1955, we offer an array of comprehensive services for youth, adolescents, and adults. Our substance use prevention program delivers evidence-based treatment, counseling, and relapse prevention services for individuals recovering from substance use disorders.
Job Scope: Make a difference in the lives of others by providing substance use and co-occurring treatment to clients at the outpatient and intensive outpatient levels of care. Engage clients in individual, couple, families, and group counseling sessions using evidence-based modalities. Manage a caseload while assessing and addressing client needs through referrals or direct services. Maintain billing expectations, participate in supervision and trainings, and adhere to agency policies and procedures while accepting all assigned clients. Develop and implement strength-based and recovery-oriented assessment and treatment plans, while also ensuring accurate, quality, and timely documentation of services.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide individual, couple, families, and group services to adults and adolescents
- Develop goal oriented IATPs that are strengths-based and recovery-oriented on all assigned clients
- Maintain a caseload of individuals with substance use and co-occurring needs, and coordinate care
- Provide accurate, quality documentation within 48 hours of service
- Understand DHS 132, 140, and 2060 guidelines
- Manage crises as they arise
Performance Requirements
- Ability to assess, diagnose, interpret and integrate both verbal and non-verbal client input during session.
- Ability to clinically “listen” during session.
- Establishing rapport and maintaining supportive contact with client.
- Knowledge regarding screening for all behavioral health needs including psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, withdrawal symptoms, and danger to self and others.
- Courteous, effective relationships in the workplace.
- Knowledge of agency policy and adherence to agency procedure.
- Ability to value diversity, accept differences, apply cultural knowledge, and adapt to different cultural contexts.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human service field and must hold clinical certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) from the Illinois Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA) or be licensed as an LPC, LSW, LCPC, or LCSW. If not currently certified or licensed, must become so within 2 years
- Must be able to work independently and have good computer skills
- Behavioral health counseling experience and ability to manage behavioral health crises
- Bilingual Spanish Preferred
Schedule
- Monday – Thursday, 10:45am – 9:15pm (40 hours/week)
