American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of experience and prior travel experience for a day-shift ambulatory OR position in Santa Cruz, CA.

Work setting includes an ambulatory OR and community hospital OR environment
-
Surgical specialties include general, urology, GYN, ENT, orthopedics, plastics, spine, neuro, ophthalmology (preferred), robotics (Da Vinci Xi/V), and bariatrics
-
Robotic cases include urologic, gynecologic, general, gastrointestinal, and colorectal robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
-
Day shift with variable start times: 6:45 AM–5:15 PM or 8:30 AM–7:00 PM, 4x10-hour shifts

Evening call required from 4:45 PM–11:00 PM

13-week contract

Minimum of 2 years of surgical technologist experience

Prior travel experience required, as minimal on-site training will be provided

CST certification required

BLS certification required (AHA or ARC)

Valid CA state license or certification, if applicable — license required if applicable

2 supervisory references obtained within the past year required for consideration

Copies of all certifications required for consideration

7-year work history verification required

Scrub a wide range of surgical cases including orthopedic, spine/neuro, GYN, urology, ENT, plastics, general surgery, ophthalmology, vascular, bariatric, and robotic procedures

Pediatric case experience is a plus, with pedi ENT, orthopedic, and general surgery cases performed at this facility

Responsible for sterile processing duties including instrument assembly, decontamination, sterilization, scope/probe reprocessing, and tray assembly
-
Proficiency in aseptic technique, universal protocol (time-out), specimen handling, laser safety, radiation safety, and sharps safety expected
-
Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, high-level disinfectants, and washer/sterilizers is relevant to this role

Candidates who previously worked at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler

Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply

Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested per contract; only 1 major holiday per contract will be approved
-
Holidays covered include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (holiday period runs 7:00 PM the prior evening through 7:00 AM the following day)
