General Manager — AhbA Laguna Beach

AhbA has a rare opportunity available for a driven, experienced leader who wants to make a career out of hospitality.
We are looking for someone who understands how special AhbA Laguna Beach is — to our team, our community, and beyond.
The ideal candidate lives and breathes hospitality, has a genuine passion for food & beverage, and loves to teach, coach, and lead by example. This person should be comfortable balancing the details of running a great restaurant with the bigger responsibility of building a strong team, protecting the culture, and creating an experience guests want to come back to again and again.
This is not a desk job. We are looking for a hands-on leader who is present on the floor, knows their team, understands the business, and takes ownership of the restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day operation and overall performance of AhbA Laguna Beach.
- Lead from the floor and maintain a strong presence during peak services.
- Build, coach, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing FOH leadership and hourly team.
- Create a culture centered around genuine hospitality, teamwork, urgency, and attention to detail.
- Ensure every guest receives a warm, welcoming, and distinctly AhbA experience.
- Handle guest feedback and service recovery thoughtfully and proactively.
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain great people.
- Own FOH scheduling and labor management while ensuring the restaurant is appropriately staffed for the level of business.
- Lead ongoing training and development around hospitality, menu knowledge, service standards, and restaurant systems.
- Partner closely with culinary and bar leadership to ensure food, beverage, and service are operating as one cohesive experience.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, facilities, food safety, and overall restaurant appearance.
- Understand and manage the financial performance of the restaurant, including sales, labor, food cost, prime cost, and controllable expenses.
- Review restaurant performance regularly and develop plans to improve both profitability and the guest experience.
- Maintain accurate operational systems through Toast, 7shifts, and other AhbA platforms.
- Lead pre-shifts, manager meetings, training sessions, and regular communication with the team.
- Identify problems early, communicate clearly, and take ownership of finding solutions.
- Protect and strengthen AhbA’s culture, standards, and reputation within the Laguna Beach community.
Qualifications
- Previous General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or senior restaurant leadership experience.
- Strong background in high-volume, hospitality-driven restaurants.
- Genuine passion for food, beverage, restaurants, and taking care of people.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams.
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including labor, food cost, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Comfortable working with restaurant technology and systems; Toast and 7shifts experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain high standards while operating in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
- Strong sense of ownership and personal accountability.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and peak restaurant periods as needed.
- Most importantly: you genuinely enjoy being in restaurants, taking care of guests, and helping a team become better.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
