Position Summary
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel's physical property, equipment, guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for guests and team members. This position performs preventive maintenance, responds to service requests, troubleshoots mechanical issues, and assists with repairs in accordance with hotel standards, safety regulations, and brand requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Guest Room Maintenance
- Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests.
- Repair HVAC units, plumbing fixtures, electrical outlets, lighting, televisions, locks, and appliances.
- Repair drywall, paint, caulk, and patch walls as needed.
- Install and repair doors, hardware, windows, and furniture.
- Ensure guestrooms meet brand quality standards before returning to inventory.
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on guest rooms and hotel equipment.
- Maintain HVAC systems, water heaters, boilers, pumps, generators, and compressors.
- Inspect mechanical rooms and utility systems daily.
- Replace filters, lubricate equipment, and perform routine servicing.
- Maintain maintenance logs and documentation.
Building Maintenance
- Maintain public areas, meeting rooms, restaurants, kitchens, and offices.
- Repair flooring, ceiling tiles, lighting fixtures, and wall finishes.
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, and masonry work.
- Assist with renovations and capital improvement projects.
- Maintain landscaping equipment and exterior building appearance when assigned.
Plumbing
- Repair toilets, faucets, sinks, showers, drains, and water lines.
- Unclog drains and sewer lines.
- Diagnose plumbing leaks.
- Replace valves, cartridges, and plumbing fixtures.
Electrical
- Replace outlets, switches, breakers, lighting fixtures, and ballasts.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues safely.
- Assist with emergency lighting and exit sign inspections.
- Maintain electrical panels within scope of training.
HVAC
- Troubleshoot heating and cooling systems.
- Replace motors, belts, thermostats, and filters.
- Monitor chiller and boiler operations.
- Ensure guest room temperatures meet brand standards.
Pool (if applicable)
- Monitor pool chemistry.
- Record daily readings.
- Clean filters and maintain pumps.
- Ensure compliance with health department regulations.
Life Safety
- Conduct fire alarm inspections.
- Test emergency lighting.
- Inspect fire extinguishers.
- Participate in emergency response procedures.
- Report all safety hazards immediately.
Grounds & Exterior
- Remove debris from parking lots and walkways.
- Repair exterior lighting.
- Maintain sidewalks, fencing, and landscaping.
- Assist with snow or storm preparation when necessary.
General Responsibilities
- Complete work orders promptly.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Follow OSHA safety regulations.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop.
- Assist other departments as needed.
- Participate in hotel emergency procedures.
- Support hotel renovation and capital projects.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of hotel maintenance or commercial building maintenance experience preferred.

- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
