Job Overview
The Bottling Line Maintenance Mechanic is a professional who helps ensure winery production runs smoothly through comprehensive routine preventative work as well as completing a variety of responsibilities on demand. The position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties as well as overall general maintenance tasks to trouble-shoot, repair, adjust, install, operate, test or otherwise service equipment in support of facility and production operations.
Essential Functions

- Provides preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting services for bottling line equipment, and filtration equipment;
- Regularly inspect, lubricate and adjust equipment to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Responsibly travel between RM Wineries facilities in Mattawa, WA and George, WA.
- Dissembles equipment and correctly reassembles equipment with little to no direction;
- Troubleshoot equipment within our production line area working with belts, gearboxes, stainless steel, motors, and chains.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults during active production runs.
- Line setup and changeovers; reconfigure machinery to accommodate different bottle shapes and product types.
- Respond timely to production requests or equipment failures ensuring limited down time;
- Assist in performing routine checks on equipment, safety stations, and tools;
- Utilize hand, portable and industrial power tools;
- Maintain appropriate documentation and log of maintenance activities and parts usage using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Demonstrate safety procedures and adhere to policies and procedures when performing tasks;
- Perform other tasks assigned by Supervisors, Winemakers, or other designated leaders.
Summary of Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus five (5) years of general maintenance experience working on production equipment OR two (2) year Technical Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Maintenance and Repair plus (3) years of general maintenance experience working on production equipment
- Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record;
- Fluent in the English language – written, verbal, and speech
o Capable of interpreting instruction manuals and work order forms in the English language
- Must be able to solve problems and troubleshoot when issues arise;
- Ability to work extended hours during harvest and peak periods, including periodic shift work.
- Must possess mechanical abilities;
Preferred:
- Bilingual in the Spanish and English Language;
- Prior experience in a winery, food processing facility, or similar environment involving the responsibilities outlined above.

Physical Requirements Necessary on a Regular Basis
- Be on feet for extended amounts of time, walking around various moving parts;
- Be able to lift or move up to 70 pounds at a time as well as lift weight above the head;
- May be required to work at elevated heights of up to 45 feet on cat walks, lifts, or ladders;
- Must be able to crouch, stoop, bend, sit, stand, walk, and have full use of hands and fingers;
- Able to work in varying weather conditions;
- Manual dexterity, arm and upper and lower body range of motion sufficient for operating machinery and utilizing tools;
- Speech and hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone /radio communication;
- Vision sufficient for working with small parts and under a welding hood, if needed.
- Must be able to work within small or confined spaces, after properly trained;
