Midwest Solutions Inc. is hiring an experienced Solar Electrician to join our growing team in Illinois. We’re looking for someone with strong residential solar experience who can independently complete electrical work, service upgrades, battery installations, and system commissioning while meeting Illinois code requirements.

Responsibilities:
- Install residential solar PV systems from start to finish
- Perform Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs), meter socket replacements, and service upgrades
- Install, wire, commission, and troubleshoot battery storage systems
- Install Tesla Powerwall, Enphase Energy Systems, and SolarEdge Energy Hub systems
- Complete battery backup wiring, gateways, backup loads panels, CTs, transfer equipment, and communications
- Install AC/DC disconnects, combiner panels, inverters, rapid shutdown equipment, and associated electrical components
- Run EMT, PVC, and other conduit systems
- Pull, terminate, and test AC and DC conductors
- Read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical plans, and installation drawings
- Troubleshoot electrical, communication, and commissioning issues
- Ensure installations comply with NEC, local Illinois codes, utility requirements, and manufacturer specifications
- Pass AHJ and utility inspections while maintaining high-quality workmanship
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of residential electrical experience
- At least 2 years of hands-on residential solar experience
- Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Experience working in Illinois and familiarity with local electrical requirements
- Experience with: Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs), Service equipment replacements, Line-side and load-side interconnections, Tesla Powerwall installations and commissioning, Enphase battery systems (5P/10C), System Controller, Combiner, and commissioning, SolarEdge Energy Hub inverters, batteries, backup interface, and commissioning, Battery backup wiring and whole-home/partial-home backup systems, Grounding, bonding, and service calculations
- Ability to read electrical plans and troubleshoot independently
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work on roofs, ladders, and in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Illinois Electrical License (Preferred)
- NABCEP Certification (Preferred)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience with ComEd requirements and Illinois inspections
