Assistant to the Project Manager
Museum Design & Exhibit Development
Southwest Museum Services
This Isn't Your Typical Office Position
Southwest Museum Services designs and builds museums and historical exhibits throughout the United States. Every project is unique, requiring organization, professionalism, and the ability to adapt as projects move from concept through installation.
We're looking for someone who wants more than a routine administrative position. You'll work directly with the Project Manager, becoming involved in nearly every phase of museum projects while helping keep multiple projects organized and moving forward.
Responsibilities
- Assist with museum proposals, presentations, and project documentation.
- Coordinate schedules, vendors, and client communications.
- Attend meetings with museum directors, architects, contractors, and board members.
- Travel to project sites for meetings and exhibit installations as needed.
- Review documents for accuracy and maintain organized project files.
- Help solve problems and keep projects on schedule.
- Learn the museum exhibit design and fabrication process from concept through installation.
Travel
Travel is an important part of this position and may include overnight trips and several consecutive days during exhibit installations.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Is organized, dependable, and self-motivated.
- Communicates professionally and confidently.
- Thinks independently and enjoys solving problems.
- Adapts well as priorities change.
- Takes pride in producing quality work.
- Enjoys learning and being part of a small, respected company.
Our Work Environment
We're a small office with a casual, professional work environment where professionalism, personal responsibility, respect, common sense, and a strong work ethic are part of our everyday culture. Our team appreciates straightforward communication, accountability, and people who take pride in doing quality work. If those values reflect who you are, you'll likely fit in well here.
This Position May Not Be Right For You If
- You prefer repetitive office work.
- You dislike travel.
- You need constant supervision.
- You become frustrated when priorities change.
Confidentiality
Because you will work closely with company leadership, clients, project budgets, proprietary exhibit concepts, and business operations, confidentiality is essential. The successful candidate will be required to sign Confidentiality and Intellectual Property Agreements.
Why Join Southwest Museum Services?
This is an opportunity to build a career—not simply fill an office position. As you grow into the role, you'll become a trusted part of project planning, client relationships, and the continued success of Southwest Museum Services.
If you're dependable, enjoy learning, and take pride in your work, we'd like to hear from you.

To be considered for this position, please submit the following:

- A recent professional photograph. A simple business-style headshot is sufficient.
