The Network Engineer is responsible for incoming reactive and proactive service requests. Work performed will take place both onsite and remotely for Synergy’s IT Managed Services customers. The Network Engineer will work independently and as part of a team to answer help desk calls, troubleshoot and resolve issues and is responsible for designing, implementing and testing network infrastructure, insuring business continuity, mitigating security threats, and providing affordable technology solutions in support of customer needs.
Position Duties:
- Work with end users to resolve and troubleshoot server and desktop hardware, applications, routing and connectivity issues.
- Perform and document regular upgrades and network maintenance.
- Manage ticket queues and ensure all assigned tickets are resolved and responded to.
- Provide technical services, support and security for WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, internal systems, cloud and network infrastructure.
- Work with Microsoft products, Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Hyper-V
- Work with products such as VPN, Terminal Services, and NetExtender
- Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, impending changes or agreed outages.
- Work with Synergy Account Executives to design and identify solutions for new and existing clients.
Required Technical Proficiencies:
- Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10
- Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of technical implementations such as Hyper-V, SQL, Terminal Services and Cloud/Hosted Services.
- Proficiency in Exchange Server 2000 - 2013.
- Microsoft Office Suites and Office 365.
- Knowledge of Active Directory and how it works in complex environments
- Advanced Windows 2012 server maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, deployment, migration and upgrade.
Although not required, our ideal candidate may also have experience in the following area:
- Basic understanding of Linux, and Mac OS
- Security software such as Anti-virus, Anti-SPAM, Anti-Spyware, and other security related technologies.
- Switching and Routing
- WAN Technology (MPLS, VPLS, VPN)
- Relevant industry certifications to this position (not required)
- A+, Network +, Security+, MCP MCITP/MCSE
