Private family seeks an experienced, discreet, and highly organized Housekeeper to join their household team at their primary residence on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with extensions to additional residences in Connecticut, and the Hamptons. The ideal candidate is a polished and dedicated private service professional who takes pride in meticulous home care, understands how to maintain multiple residences to consistently high standards, and is comfortable adapting to the family’s schedule and location throughout the year.
he successful candidate will be hands-on, self-motivated, and proactive while maintaining a respectful and discreet presence within the home. They should possess excellent situational awareness, intuitively understanding when support is needed and when to allow the family privacy. Working closely alongside another full-time Housekeeper, this individual will share responsibility for the day-to-day care, organization, and presentation of the family’s residences. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and comfortable working in tandem with a fellow Housekeeper to maintain consistently high standards across the household.
This is a full-time position consisting of approximately 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for occasional weekends and travel based on the family’s schedule. The role is primarily based in New York City, with seasonal travel to the Hamptons during the summer, including occasional extended stays and overnights; private accommodations are provided when needed. Periodic coverage at the family’s Connecticut residence will also be required, particularly in preparation for weekend visits outside of the summer season. Candidates must be comfortable transitioning between residences and providing consistent support at these three locations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform all aspects of hands-on housekeeping, routine cleaning, and deep cleaning to maintain each residence in pristine condition
- Organize and maintain bedrooms, bathrooms, living spaces, closets, storage areas, and household belongings with exceptional attention to detail
- Manage household laundry and ironing, including the appropriate care and handling of delicate fabrics, garments, linens, and specialty items
- Coordinate household dry cleaning, including drop-off, pick-up, and tracking of garments and other items
- Monitor, shop for, and replenish household supplies, cleaning products, groceries, and other requested items
- Prepare and maintain residences before family arrivals and ensure homes remain appropriately cared for and organized while the family is away
- Assist with the care of the family’s two small dogs, including general pet care and dog sitting when requested
- Work collaboratively with fellow Housekeepers and coordinate as needed with the Personal Assistant and broader household staff to ensure seamless day-to-day operations
- Travel between the family’s New York City, Greenwich, and Southampton residences as required, including occasional overnight stays in Southampton
- Additional housekeeping and household responsibilities as needed and requested
Requirements:
- Strong command of the English language with excellent verbal communication skills
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers required
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional housekeeping experience within high-profile private residences required
- Strong knowledge of detailed housekeeping, deep cleaning, household organization, laundry, ironing, and the proper care of delicate fabrics and fine household items
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated with the ability to work effectively both independently and as an equal member of a household team
- Polished, kind, discreet, and professional with excellent judgment, strong situational awareness, and the ability to maintain a quiet, respectful presence around the principals
- Flexible and willing to travel between New York City, Greenwich, and Southampton and provide occasional weekend and overnight coverage as required
- Comfortable working around and assisting with the care of small dogs
- Valid Driver’s License REQUIRED
- Legally able to work within the United States for any employer
Compensation: $50 hourly + benefits
Benefits: Healthcare stipend, 10 vacation days and 5 personal days; 401(k) eligibility after four months with a 4% employer match; NYSE holidays off, with holiday work compensated at the applicable overtime rate
