Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs, including product demos and answering questions about merchandise
- Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system accurately to process sales, returns, and exchanges
- Handle cash, credit card transactions, and other payment methods with precision and integrity
- Maintain organized merchandising displays and stock shelves to enhance product visibility and appeal
- Perform stocking duties to ensure shelves are replenished promptly and inventory levels are accurate
- Upsell products by recommending complementary items to increase sales opportunities
- Provide excellent phone etiquette when answering inquiries or assisting customers remotely
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures in a retail or grocery store environment
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team settings or training new staff
- Ability to conduct product demos confidently and educate customers about features and benefits
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with diverse customer groups are highly valued
- Strong communication skills for engaging with customers professionally and courteously
- Knowledge of retail math for calculating totals, discounts, and change accurately
- Familiarity with merchandising, stocking, and grocery store operations to support daily store functions
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and problem-solving mindset
- Basic math skills necessary for cash register accuracy and transaction processing
- Experience in upselling techniques to maximize sales opportunities during customer interactions
