Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assess students' abilities and needs.
- Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation related to student health and educational progress.
- Provide behavioral therapy and support, utilizing applied behavior analysis techniques when appropriate.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to create a supportive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid NJDOE teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in diagnostic evaluation, data collection, and medical documentation.
- Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques, including applied behavior analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
