Under the direction of the branch specific designee and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Minibus Driver is responsible for driving a YMCA minibus or van for program purposes, organizing routes and rosters, and ensuring the safety of all passengers. This position will only be allowed to drive vechile up to 15 passengers including the driver.

Essential Functions

Ensure the safety of each participant through vehicle inspection and participant supervision.

Greet all program participants in a friendly, professional manner.

Maintain transportation records.

Ensure cleanliness in minibuses or vans.

Promptly report issues or concerns to supervisor.

Accept and work towards the goals and objectives of the YMCA.

Develop transportation routes, seating assignments, etc. and implement them on a daily basis.

Assist in implementing program enhancements.
Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or GED
-
Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license in their current state of residence.

Must be approved as a YMCA Driver through annual motor vehicle record check and up to date training

Ability to work as a team member

Mature individual with good moral character and integrity

Process clear communication skills with children, adults, co-workers and supervisor.

Skills in working with children and help to make their YMCA experience meaningful
Complete all required staff trainings, included but not limited to, Basic Safety Series (which includes CPR and First Aid), Child Abuse Prevention, Van/Mini-Bus Driver Safety, and departmental trainings prior to working as a Van/Minibus driver
All YMCA team members are expected to maintain a current and active status for all safety, risk, and programming certifications defined by the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.
Working Conditions

Ability to work a flexible schedule with irregular work hours.

Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.

Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.

Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.

The midpoint for this position is $13.60, we typically offer new hires between the min-mid of the range unless they have higher than average experience for this role.
Please note: These positions support the 2026–2027 school year, with an anticipated start date by early August. Training and onboarding will take place prior to the start of the school year.
