Rutgers University – Newark, an urban public research anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Assistant Manager.
The Assistant Manager position reports directly to the Office of Financial Aid‐Director. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) assisting the Director in the overall management of the office, administration of financial aid programs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of program policies that directly relates to financial aid services. An essential function of this job is to supervise a team of Sr. Financial Aid Counselors and Support Staff, and provide training, goal setting, oversight, quality assurance, and strategic planning for the numerous financial aid programs and student population caseload administered by the assigned team. Duties include the hiring, training, development, evaluation, reprimand, rehabilitation and firing processes of the assigned team. Must perform file review, need analysis, constructing financial aid packages and authorize program disbursements for all FSA/institutional programs and is accountable for the fundamental training and coaching as it relates to team members being properly equipped to handle complex problem solving and decision making to ensure optimum customer service outcomes and adherence to compliance procedures. Represent the Office of Financial Aid at recruitment events, external & internal partners, and financial literacy programs. Supports the Rutgers University‐Newark strategic plan initiatives of access and affordability.
