Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Surgical Technologist specialized in procedures to join our dynamic surgical team. Duties
- Prepare operating rooms with appropriate surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment specific to cardiovascular procedures, ensuring all tools are sterile and ready for use
- Assist surgeons during cardiovascular surgeries by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary supplies promptly and accurately
- Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout all phases of surgery to prevent infection and ensure patient safety
- Monitor vital signs and physiological parameters during procedures, reporting any abnormalities immediately to the surgical team
- Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and intraoperative events using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms
- Support infection control protocols by adhering to hospital policies on sterilization, hand hygiene, and environmental cleanliness
- Demonstrate proficiency in anatomy knowledge, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to cardiac and vascular surgeries to anticipate needs effectively
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent credential required; prior experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred
- Extensive OR experience with a focus on cardiovascular surgery; Level II trauma center experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of cardiac physiology, anatomy, and critical care practices including ICU and PICU environments
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for medical records management
- Hands-on experience with suturing techniques, sterile field maintenance, and infection control standards
- Ability to perform data collection accurately during complex procedures while maintaining focus under pressure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or trauma care are advantageous
- Strong analysis skills combined with acute care experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or critical care settings
- Excellent understanding of vital signs monitoring, aseptic techniques, and hospital safety protocols including infection prevention measures
