Position Summary
The Bonded Grinding Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining metal bond, vitrified bond and resin bond grinding machines to produce high-quality precision parts. This will include tasks such as turning, drilling, grinding and polishing. This role requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate metal bond, vitrified bond and resin bond grinding machines to grind and finish precision parts according to specifications.
- Set up and adjust grinding machines, including selecting and installing grinding wheels and adjusting machine settings.
- Required to read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawings.
- Ability to inspect the product using scales, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, comparators and other equipment as needed.
- Ability to select the proper work holding and tooling needed for optimum productivity.
- Ability to recognize, trouble shoot and correct noncompliant products
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and properly using and maintaining PPE.
- Required to meet standard productivity requirements.
- Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality, using precision measuring tools such as scales, Calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, comparators and other equipment as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.
- Document production activities and maintain accurate records.
- Perform other duties as required.
Preferred Skills:
- Safely run and use required equipment.
- Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings.
- High school diploma or GED; technical training in machining or grinding preferred.
- Proven experience as a grinding operator, preferably with resin bond grinding machines.
- Strong understanding of grinding processes and techniques.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Personal Attributes:
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- 3+ years of related experience preferred.
- High level of interpersonal communication skills.
- Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and have sound judgement.
Physical Demands
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
