Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, Inc., is a congregation of Catholic religious sisters who have served as missionaries since 1912, when we became the first group of Catholic sisters in the United States founded for overseas mission. Today, we have more than 200 sisters serving in 18 places around the world and throughout the United States, including at our Center House in Ossining, N.Y. The Maintenance Mechanic II position is responsible for a proportionate share of the necessary building upkeep, and other services and repairs required to maintain the Maryknoll Sisters' Center as a safe and attractive complex. This particular position requires a specialty in PAINTING.
This position is primarily Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:00pm. There may be some changes in schedule based on the needs of the Center.
This position provides special services as needed, alone or working with Physical Plant associates, and other related departments.
The Maintenance Mechanic II position is an Essential position which requires those in this position to be at work during inclement weather and for other emergency situations as requested by the Manager or Supervisor.
Although all duties listed below can apply, this position will routinely inspect plumbing systems; clean, clear, or repair as needed plumbing pipes, fixtures, fittings, equipment, etc.
Other duties can include:
- Diagnoses electrical problems; installs, repairs, or replaces electrical equipment, appliances, motors, wires, switches, sockets, plugs, etc.
- Completes preventive maintenance requests and reports according to procedures.
- As assigned, prepares surfaces and does needed painting.
- As assigned, utilizes carpentry skills for constructing cabinets, storage units,partitions, display racks, shelves, etc.
- Repairs door locks, screens, windows, Venetian blinds; installs and removes air conditioners.
- Performs other maintenance and general support services such as caring for tools and equipment, moving supplies and furniture.
- With instruction from the Manager or Supervisor, organizes and assists with the burials of Maryknoll Sisters.
- Snow removal around the Maryknoll Sisters complex.
Experience: 2 years experience in general building maintenance. Experience in plumbing required.
Education: High School Diploma
Must be able to use and operate tools and shop equipment safely; Safe execution of work in the field;
Carry out work orders; work varied; valid driver's license.
