A transportation worker for the elderly helps seniors get to medical appointments, grocery stores, community events, and other essential destinations safely and on time. They assist with entering and exiting vehicles, ensure confort during travel, and provide friendly, reliable support to help older adults maintain their independence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accompanies clients to appointments and/or errands.

Grocery shops and runs errands, as requested.

Performs Home Safety Evaluation.

Follows agency policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.
PRODUCTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:

Fulfills all hourly assignments as scheduled. Coordinates any desired or necessary changes with the scheduler.

Routinely reviews schedule when received. Questions any assignment not understood.

Maintains good communication with the agency in updating work availability and schedule.

Consistently arrives and leaves client’s home at the assigned time. Contacts agency if expected arrival differs more than 15 minutes.

Notifies scheduler of absences or tardiness according to agency policy.
-
Submits activity sheets weekly as per agency policy. Obtains client’s or family member’s signature on weekly activity sheets to verify visit and care given.

Plans assigned tasks in order to accomplish within assigned time frame.

Seeks direction from supervisor regarding duties and client’s requests.

Attends required in-service annually.
Qualifications:
-
High school education is desirable, but educational qualifications may be waived if the applicant can read, write, follow instructions, and complete reports fully in the English language.

Good communication skills are needed with a maturity level to cope with other’s lifestyles and needs. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be alert and self-motivated. Must be able to effectively manage difficult situations and clients.

Must demonstrate tact, patience and good personal hygiene. Must have empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.

Safe driving and map reading skills essential.

Training will be of sufficient length to meet the needs of the position.

Personal vehicle, driver’s license and automobile insurance required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to bend, lift, and carry supplies and equipment from one location to another. Must be physically able to sit, stand, walk and drive for long periods of time.
