Diversified Hydraulic Concepts (DHC) is seeking a skilled Hydraulic Cylinder Machinist & Assembler to join our team in Cottage Grove, Oregon.
This position is ideal for someone with mechanical and machining experience who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in building and repairing hydraulic components correctly. The position will involve both machining and complete assembly of hydraulic cylinders, including new cylinder manufacturing and repair work.
Responsibilities
- Machine hydraulic cylinder components using manual lathes and related machine tools
- Machine and repair cylinder rods, barrels, pistons, glands, and other components
- Measure components and work to specified dimensions and tolerances
- Cut and machine threads, grooves, shoulders, and seal areas
- Inspect rods, barrels, pistons, glands, and other components for wear or damage
- Disassemble and evaluate hydraulic cylinders for repair
- Install seals, wear rings, bearings, and other cylinder components
- Assemble new and repaired hydraulic cylinders
- Perform pressure and functional testing of completed cylinders
- Read mechanical drawings, prints, and measuring instruments
- Maintain accurate workmanship and quality standards
- Keep work areas, machines, and tooling organized and maintained
- Work closely with our hydraulic technicians, machinists, and production team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous manual machining experience
- Experience with hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic equipment, or industrial repair is strongly preferred
- Ability to operate manual lathes and other common machine-shop equipment
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand machining tolerances
- Understanding of threads, fits, surface finishes, and seal installation
- Welding experience is a plus
- CNC machining experience is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Commitment to producing quality work
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who understands that hydraulic cylinder work requires attention to detail. Proper dimensions, surface finishes, seal installation, cleanliness, and assembly practices are critical to producing a cylinder that will perform reliably in the field.
An experienced machinist who has not previously worked specifically with hydraulic cylinders may also be considered if they have strong mechanical skills and are willing to learn hydraulic cylinder repair and manufacturing.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
