Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira, NY seeks part-time (25-30 hours/week, $18-$19/hr., no benefits) Facilities and Grounds Technician
Duties include performance of a wide variety of indoor and outdoor tasks:
· General facility maintenance and repair
· Regular cleaning of all buildings including bathrooms, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, windows, doors, trash removal, shoveling/snow blowing, salting of sidewalks, driveway snow removal
· Scheduling and maintaining records and inspections with regard to facility and Treetop Walkway
· Work with vendors and contractors for facility inspections and repairs
· Trail and grounds mowing, weed whacking, clearing, marking, etc.
· General landscaping including planting, weeding and watering when needed
· Minor service and maintenance of nature center vehicles and trail/lawn/road equipment
· Daily and quarterly water testing duties
· Keep inventory of cleaning and other supplies and coordinate ordering with Office Manager
· Coordination and supervision of volunteers when needed
· Fill bird feeders and acquire seed
· Attend staff meetings, facility meeting, every other board meeting and major fundraisers
· On call for emergencies
· Other duties as assigned
Mechanical, electric, plumbing and land management knowledge a plus. Must be able to work with little to no supervision, be able to properly and safely operate small and large power equipment and lift at least 50 pounds.
