Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Technician to support our healthcare team in maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention and sterile processing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical equipment sterilization, aseptic techniques, and hospital protocols to ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff. As a Sterile Tech, you will play a vital role in decontaminating, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments and medical devices, contributing to the overall quality of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough decontamination of surgical instruments and medical equipment using established sterilization procedures.
- Operate sterilization machinery accurately, including autoclaves and other sterilization devices, ensuring proper functioning and maintenance.
- Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies, ensuring availability while minimizing waste through effective stock control.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention protocols and healthcare infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination.
- Document sterilization processes accurately, maintaining detailed records for compliance and quality assurance purposes.
- Assist with the assembly and packaging of sterile instrument sets according to procedural requirements.
- Support the training of new staff on aseptic techniques, sterilization procedures, and safety protocols to uphold best practices.
Requirements
- Prior experience in sterile processing or medical equipment sterilization within a healthcare setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to surgical procedures and instrument handling.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and maintaining accurate records of sterilized supplies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical equipment operation, and infection prevention management practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of aseptic technique principles to prevent contamination during processing.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to strict safety guidelines.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
