Position Summary:
The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services to individuals with disabilities. This position plays a vital role in supporting the independence and inclusion of consumers by ensuring timely and courteous transit to medical appointments, community events, work, or other approved destinations. Drivers must adhere to all safety protocols, vehicle maintenance checks, and maintain professional, respectful interactions with all passengers.
Essential Functions (Primary Duties):
- Safely operate ATR vehicles to transport individuals to and from scheduled destinations.
- Ensure proper securement of mobility devices and passenger safety equipment before transit begins.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues immediately.
- Maintain accurate trip records including mileage, time logs, and rider attendance.
- Safely operate ATR vehicles to transport individuals to and from scheduled destinations.

- Provide courteous and respectful support to riders at all times, ensuring a high-quality rider experience.
- Communicate effectively with the Transportation Manager and dispatch regarding route changes, delays, or emergencies.
- Follow all applicable local, state, and federal traffic laws, as well as AIM’s internal safety and service guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned vehicles daily.
- Attend required training sessions including ADA sensitivity, defensive driving, and safety protocols.
Role Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience providing transportation services, especially in paratransit or human services settings, strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
- Ability to operate wheelchair lifts, ramps, and securement systems properly and safely.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to follow GPS and routing software and manage trip documentation.
- Must successfully complete PA State Police Criminal History check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Clearance background checks.

- Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Mental Demands: Stress due to time constraints and multiple tasks/procedures occurring at the same time. Ability to safely operate a vehicle to include following all traffic laws and guidelines while maintaining positive interaction with consumers.
- Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure to outdoor weather and varied driving conditions is expected.
- Manual Dexterity Required: Must be able to manipulate small electronic parts and controls, including driving a vehicle.
