Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, following FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Plan and execute efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel consumption
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations when applicable
- Deliver freight to various destinations, including automobile transportation hubs or logistics centers, maintaining a high level of customer service
- Manage the transportation of hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods in accordance with hazardous materials regulations
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers, including checking for mechanical issues, proper load securement, and compliance with safety protocols
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in line with FMCSA regulations
- Collaborate with dispatch teams to coordinate route driving schedules and adapt to changing delivery requirements
Experience
- 2 years of Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record demonstrating safe driving habits
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers used for freight delivery
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed loads, tanker operations, and automobile transportation logistics
- Knowledge of manual transmission operation and truck loading/unloading procedures
- Experience navigating OTR routes across multiple states or regions while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations
- Understanding of hazardous materials handling procedures and safety standards (hazmat certification preferred)
- Strong skills in route planning using GPS navigation systems and managing logistics cargo handling efficiently
- Ability to adhere strictly to FMCSA regulations regarding hours of service, load securement, and safety protocols
