Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Chief Engineer to lead our facilities and engineering operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the maintenance, repair, and management of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across our facilities. Your leadership will ensure that all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. As a key member of our management team, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives, supervise maintenance teams, and implement innovative solutions to optimize facility performance. Your expertise in engineering troubleshooting, project management, and facilities management will be instrumental in maintaining a safe and productive environment for all staff and visitors.
Duties
- Lead and manage facilities maintenance teams to ensure the reliable operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Develop and oversee maintenance repair procedures aligned with safety regulations such as OSHA standards.
- Supervise the inspection, repair, and replacement of HVAC systems, electrical systems—including high voltage equipment—and plumbing infrastructure.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software to schedule preventive maintenance and track work orders.
- Conduct troubleshooting for complex engineering issues using tools like ohmmeters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all maintenance activities; train staff on OSHA requirements and safety regulations.
- Manage projects related to facilities upgrades or repairs from planning through execution while adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
- Oversee the management of facilities maintenance records, reports, and documentation to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs or installations involving electrical systems or HVAC units.
- Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the engineering department.
Experience
- Proven management experience leading facilities or engineering teams within industrial or commercial environments; high-rise experience a PLUS!
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems repair—including HVAC systems—and electrical systems maintenance—particularly expereince high voltage applications.
- Hands-on experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), schematics interpretation, and troubleshooting industrial automation equipment.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and best practices for industrial maintenance operations; certifications will prioritize your application!
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite for reporting, documentation, and communication purposes.
- Experience with CMMS software is highly desirable.
- Strong supervisory skills with a track record of managing facilities maintenance teams effectively while fostering a safety-first culture.
- Knowledge of plumbing system maintenance and repair procedures, Troubleshooting elevators, escalators and Fire-Life-Safety Systems.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with leadership capabilities, while partnering with vendor relationships to achieve optimal site performance.
- This is a working Engineer role-not a behind the desk administrative position.

- progressive commercial or facilities maintenance: 7 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- HVAC, EPA Universal, OHSHA 10 or 30, or Electrical (Preferred)
