Position Overview
Fought & Company is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Estimator to help drive the continued growth of one of the West Coast's premier bridge and heavy fabrication programs. Based in the Pacific Northwest, Fought is strategically focused on complex bridge structures, heavy plate fabrication, railroad bridges, and infrastructure that strengthens America's transportation network.
This position may be 100% remote for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will become a key member of our preconstruction team, leading estimates on structural steel bridge projects throughout the western United States. Working alongside experienced project managers, engineers, detailers, and operations leaders, this individual will identify opportunities, develop competitive bid strategies, assess risk, and build trusted relationships with owners, contractors, and partners. We are looking for someone who doesn't simply estimate projects - they understand how bridges are built, where risk lives, and how to position an organization to win profitable work.
What You'll Do
- Lead all aspects of bridge estimating from opportunity identification through bid submission.
- Analyze plans, specifications, contract documents, and owner requirements.
- Develop accurate quantity takeoffs, labor estimates, equipment plans, and subcontractor/vendor pricing.
- Evaluate commercial and technical risk while identifying opportunities for value engineering.
- Partner with operations to ensure estimates reflect executable construction strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, DOTs, general contractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Support strategic pursuits and help expand Fought's bridge and heavy fabrication market presence throughout the West.
Key Qualifications
- 10+ years estimating structural steel bridge.
- Demonstrated success estimating complex DOT, design-build, and railroad.
- Deep understanding of bridge fabrication, erection means and methods, welding, coatings, and transportation logistics.
- Strong knowledge of contract documents, risk allocation, and estimating best practices.
- Experience with estimating software and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a geographically dispersed team.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Compensation
$190,000 - $240,000 annually, DOE. Final offer will depend on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
