Job Summary
General Financial Supply (GFS) and Printgraphics are located in Nevada, IA and are subsidiaries of Ennis, Inc. We are a commercial printer specializing in business forms and marketing materials. Our clients are primarily based in the United States, but we service customers worldwide. We utilize offset printing, digital printing, packaging, and bindery equipment to create products that help our customers be in the business of doing business.
As a prepress technician, you will be using a variety of software and techniques to accurately and efficiently help our clients design products that fit their needs. Our prepress department is responsible for taking orders from sales and providing everything needed by production to turn the customers designs into reality. Depending on the products that could be plates used for offset printing or files used by our digital presses.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret digital design files, ensuring accuracy before production begins
- Prepare printing plates, flexo presses, and paper corrugation equipment for operation
- Conduct quality checks on prepress materials to meet strict production standards
- Operate machinery such as paper making machines, screen printing units, and machining tools safely and efficiently
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage raw materials and finished goods inventory
- Maintain safety standards in production areas by following proper procedures and protocols
- Perform heavy lifting when handling large rolls of paper or packaging materials, adhering to safety guidelines
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues on prepress equipment and assist with routine maintenance tasks
Skills Required
- Attention to detail absolutely required
- Ability and willingness to learn new software and hardware technologies
- Ability to retain knowledge and/or ability to take organized notes for future reference
- Ability to solve new problems based on acquired knowledge
- Ability to communicate ideas visually, orally, and in writing
- Able to accurately discern colors
- Able to regularly lift up to 20 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs
- Able to perform basic math functions accurately and efficiently
- Able to read and use measurement devices
- Self-disciplined and able to stay on task
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to meld possibly conflicting information from different sources
- Willingness to help in other departments as needed
- Willingness to work overtime a plus
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Monday to Friday
- Flexible, but consistent 8-hour shift some time between 6AM to 6PM
