CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT - FEDERAL CONSTRUCTION
Location: Primarily Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama, with occasional travel to other project sites throughout the Southeast

Vanguard Pacific is a well-established federal construction contractor seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to support and manage construction projects primarily at Maxwell Air Force Base, with occasional travel to other federal project locations in the Southeast.
The ideal candidate will have strong federal construction experience, excellent field leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate subcontractors, schedules, safety, quality control, and government communication. This position requires someone who is organized, proactive, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day field operations on federal construction projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, field staff, inspections, deliveries, and project sequencing.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and project requirements to plan and execute each phase of construction.
- Drive project schedules and proactively identify issues that may affect cost, quality, safety, or completion dates.
- Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, Site Safety and Health Officer, subcontractors, and government representatives.
- Support development and maintenance of project schedules using MS Project, Primavera, or similar scheduling tools.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, progress updates, manpower reports, safety documentation, and other required field documentation.
- Ensure jobsite safety and compliance with applicable OSHA standards and USACE EM 385-1-1 requirements.
- Support quality control efforts, including coordination of preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspections.
- Attend pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, site walks, and project coordination meetings.
- Assist with estimating, takeoffs, subcontractor coordination, and bid support as needed.
- Identify potential changes, delays, or issues and communicate them promptly to project management.
- Represent the company professionally with government clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7-10 years of federal government construction project management experience.
- Federal construction experience required; Department of Defense experience preferred.
- Experience with design-build, design-bid-build, renovation, repair, and IDIQ-type contracts preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, scheduling, safety, and quality control.
- Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, schedules, and contract documents.
- Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to access federal installations and pass required background checks.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience working on Air Force, Army, Navy, or other federal installation projects.
- Experience serving in or closely coordinating with QCM and/or SSHO roles.
- Experience with RMS/QCS, Procore, Primavera, MS Project, or other construction management software.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- USACE Construction Quality Management certification.
TRAVEL
This position will be based primarily at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama. Occasional travel to other project locations throughout the Southeast may be required.

Salary range: $80,000–$125,000 per year, depending on qualifications.
