DESCRIPTION: A position that requires a medical/nursing background who will work in collaboration with the school nurse to provide direct care and support for a medically challenged student in a classroom setting.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assist the student with activities of daily living (ADLs)2. Deliver medical services as outlined in the student's IHCP (Individual Health Care Plan)3. Dispense prescribed medications in accordance with school policy and physician orders.4.
Perform medical procedures as indicated by students' physicians (tube feeding, chest compression, chest percussion, and other airway clearance therapies if necessary, and repositioning of the child).5. Maintain health records and daily notes for the individual student in coordination with the school nurse.6. Accompany the student to all therapies, specials, related arts, lunch, and recess7. Assist the student with the computer/technologies and other equipment8.
Scribe for the student when necessary9. Frequent check-ins for independent work completion and clarification of assignments.10. Collaboratively work with classroom teachers and other specialists providing service to students.11.
