Position Summary
PSG is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide technical oversight of mechanical systems design, installation, and quality control across PSG's data center and industrial construction projects. The role supports Project Management with mechanical system coordination, constructability review, and technical problem-solving to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules for constructability, code compliance, and coordination with structural, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Provide technical support to Project Managers and site staff on mechanical piping, plumbing, fire protection, and equipment installation.
- Support value engineering efforts by evaluating alternative mechanical systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers on mechanical equipment selection, procurement timelines, and installation sequencing.
- Assist in resolving field conflicts and RFIs related to mechanical scope, escalating design issues to the engineer of record as needed.
Tasks
- Conduct quantity take-offs and technical reviews of mechanical scope for cost estimation and bid evaluation.
- Review subcontractor submittals, shop drawings, and equipment data for mechanical trades.
- Perform site inspections of mechanical piping, equipment rigging/setting, and system installations for quality assurance.
- Support pre-commissioning checks and coordinate startup activities with commissioning agents and vendors.
- Track mechanical scope progress against the master project schedule and flag delays or resource gaps.
- Document technical issues, corrective actions, and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare mechanical status updates for inclusion in monthly project reports.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in mechanical engineering or construction on commercial/industrial projects.
- Experience on data center, semiconductor, or other mission-critical facility projects strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of piping systems, fire protection, plumbing, and equipment installation standards.
- Proficiency with mechanical design/review software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP) preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across disciplines.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
