Responsibilities
- Local deliveries
- Transport materials to and from specified destinations
- Prepares receipts for load pickup
- Maintenance of truck logs and proof of delivery
- Loading and unloading truck materials when needed
- Perform proper Pre/Post trip inspections.
- Inspect trucks to ensure working conditions of brakes, lights, wipers, windshield, fire extinguisher, triangles, and other safety equipment in the truck.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, rules, and safety requirements
- Basic small maintenance of truck
- Ensure that cargo is well secured
- Maintain record of goods and freight loaded and unloaded
- Report any equipment in the truck in need of repair, inoperable or missing
- Inspect freight and vehicle for compliance with regulations
- Maintain a log of activities, condition of the vehicle and any cases of accidents
- Property use electronic logs daily
- Possible warehouse duties after runs are completed
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must have a valid Class A CDL license. 3+ years prior driving experience for a commercial company
- DOT Certification
- Able to drive manual
- Experience in securing loads and operating flatbed trucks and trailers
- Basic mechanical knowledge to handle minor maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of State and Federal transport regulations
- Presents self in professional manner and have ability to interact with all levels of organization and outside contacts
- Be able to walk, sit, stand, climb, kneel, or crawl occasionally
- Be able to frequently lift or move up to 25lbs
- Be able to strap and load materials onto truck bed
- Knowledge of PVF is a plus
Work Setting
Charlotte, North Carolina
Monday - Friday, day shift
OT on some Saturdays, 8 AM - 12 PM
No nights, holidays, or Sundays
