We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer and Coordinator to support our manufacturing operations in Atlanta, GA. This is a direct hire opportunity for a quality professional who can coordinate a team of quality engineers and support staff, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.
The Quality Engineer and Coordinator will report to the Quality Manager or Plant Manager (when no Quality Manager is available), with an indirect reporting line to the Corporate Quality and Sustainability Director when no Quality Manager is available.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the quality team, including quality engineers, floor support staff, and metrology.
- Ensure implementation of quality management system procedures and lead continuous improvement; authority to stop production if standards are not met.
- Maintain quality indicators (PPM, scrap, rework, FPY) and drive corrective/preventive actions to meet objectives.
- Manage nonconformities, supplier complaints, and customer complaints, including 8D analysis and reporting.
- Coordinate certification and customer audits with the Quality Manager; interface with customers and suppliers on quality issues.
- Train staff on QMS standards (IATF 16949/ISO 9001), Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA), and customer-specific requirements.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to management and corporate teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electronic, or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 6–10 years as a Quality Engineer in electronics, preferably automotive; minimum 3 years coordinating quality staff.
- Experience with Tier 1 suppliers/Automotive OEMs; ISO 9001 audit experience required, IATF 16949/VDA 6.3 desirable.
- Knowledge of Core Tools (MSA, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, APQP), GD&T, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Strong KPI management, negotiation, and customer complaint resolution skills.
- Proficient in MS Office; English proficiency for international meetings.
