Responsibilities
- Assist with surgical procedures, anesthesia, and post-operative care.
- Draw up, and safely administer medications required for surgery.
- Sterilize instruments, monitoring patients' vital signs during operations, and providing critical pre- and post-op.
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgeries by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques.
- Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental cleanings and examinations.
- Operate imaging equipment like X-ray machines and ultrasound to capture diagnostic images while adhering to safety protocols
- Communicate with pet owners transparently and respectfully while discharging patients, explaining estimates, and administering treatment.
- Assist with animal catheterization, sample collection, and other critical veterinary procedures requiring veterinary technician experience.
- Support veterinarians in appointments by loading rooms, cleaning, getting histories, performing physical exams, and filling medications.
- Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed, including laboratory results, radiographs, and treatment notes by utilizing our practice management program, EzyVet.
Experience
Priority will be given to individuals who are open to learning to run anesthesia, or are already comfortable in surgery and would like to grow their skills.
- Prior kennel experience or hands-on animal handling experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and animal physiology is essential for success in this role.
- Experience with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory diagnostics will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining compassion and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about pet care needs.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
