Position: Substitute Teacher
Location: The Sundrop School, Roscommon, MI
Job Type: Part-time, On-call
About Us:
The Sundrop School is a nature-based Montessori school for children ages 3-6 years old, dedicated to fostering curiosity, independence, and a deep connection with the natural world. Our child-centered approach encourages exploration, hands-on learning, and respect for the environment. We are looking for passionate and reliable substitute teachers to join our team and support our mission.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a nurturing and safe environment for children ages 3-6.
- Follow Montessori and nature-based educational principles in daily activities.
- Engage children in outdoor exploration, creative play, and hands-on learning.
- Support children’s social-emotional development through positive interactions.
- Maintain classroom routines and assist with transitions as needed.
- Communicate effectively with staff and follow lesson plans provided by the lead teacher.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with young children is preferred.
- A passion for outdoor education and comfort in all weather conditions.
- Ability to adapt and step into different roles as needed.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Health and Safety Training and Background check required.
