POSITION: Behavior Specialist (Administrative Position)
LOCATION: Orchard View Cardinal Elementary
COMPENSATION: Salary based on experience
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Behavior Specialist will provide behavior/mental health support to students within Cardinal Elementary. The Behavior Specialist performs a variety of tasks necessary to support educators, students, and families to improve overall mental health attendance, reduce behavioral incidents, and increase family engagement. Additionally, the Behavior Mental Health Specialist will assist in the collection and analysis of behavioral data, participate in data analysis meetings with building teams, and provide referrals to outside resources, when necessary. This is a 38 week position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field (ex: Social Work, Counseling)
Ø Training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention preferred
Ø Certification: MDE Certified Teaching or other certification
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Work collaboratively across assigned schools with staff and administrators for data collection, problem solving and data-driven instructional decision-making processes that support implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to positively impact student growth and achievement.
Ø Assessment for referred students, using validated screening and develop resources for data collection, observation protocols.
Ø Develop plans for students, with input from school staff, the student, and parents/caregivers as appropriate.
Ø Provide supports to students to enhance the psychological, behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and social factors important for the prevention, treatment, or management of behavioral health concerns.
Ø The effectiveness of the delivered services toward achieving the student driven goals and objectives via treatment service/behavior intervention plan review.
Ø Identify and communicate barriers to implementation of supports in schools with administrators and staff.
Ø Meet regularly with the school principal and other key staff to review resources and determine referrals needed for individual students to human services, mental health services, behavioral intervention services, and youth development resources outside of the school.
Ø Provide consultation to administrators and staff with identification, recruitment, and connections to local resources in addressing the behavioral of students.
