Position Summary:
The Field Operator - Leak Crew plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the water distribution system by identifying and repairing leaks, managing emergency situations, and contributing to routine maintenance. This position requires someone with strong fieldwork experience, an understanding of water systems, and the ability to work well in a team to address issues promptly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform leak detection and repair activities across the water distribution system, using specialized equipment and techniques to identify leaks and minimize water loss.
- Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and vehicles required for leak repairs and maintenance.
- Assist with digging, excavating, and exposing water lines and other infrastructure for inspection and repair.
- Collaborate with the Leak Crew team to identify problems and develop solutions to ensure efficient repair and minimal disruption to service.
- Work with the team to maintain and replace meters, valves, hydrants, and other system components as needed.
- Document repair activities, field inspections, and maintenance work, ensuring proper records are kept.
- Follow all safety protocols, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory safety standards during field operations.
- Respond to emergency situations such as main breaks and leaks, ensuring prompt service restoration.
- Assist with system maintenance and preventative programs to avoid leaks and ensure system integrity.
- Communicate with customers, providing courteous service and updates regarding repairs or service interruptions.
- Emergency Support: Participate in on-call rotations, including evenings and weekends. .
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred;
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Strong physical stamina, including the ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) and work in various weather conditions.
- Class C Water Operator License preferred, or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
