Position Title: Development and Marketing Manager

Position Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, develops and implements Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Missouri’s fund development strategy in alignment with the agency's strategic growth strategy. Key elements of the fund development strategy include: fundraising events, corporate and foundation giving, individual giving, and grants. Ensures the agency’s outreach efforts properly communicate the agency’s image, mission, values, and advocacy for children and youth throughout the service area. This position drives fund development efforts through targeted promotions of fundraising events and donor messaging, and supports recruitment initiatives to ensure an on-going supply of targeted volunteer candidates are available to support agency programs. Is part of management team and provides primary fundraising staff support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Embrace and communicate BBBSCMO vision, mission, and values to the public, donors, and key stakeholders.
Develop and implement a written plan for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporate and individual donors. Collaborate with other departments to ensure corporate partnerships include donation and volunteerism.
Create an agency-wide marketing plan that includes mentors, committee members, board members, individual donors and corporate sponsors.
Work with Fund Development Team/Committee to plan events and execute event tasks including:
· Scheduling, locations, engaging participants, securing sponsorships, develop marketing materials, social media notices, maintaining detailed records on vendors/donors/participants, and managing expenses to ensure that budgeted goals are achieved. (Current Agency special event fundraisers include: Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Big Derby Party, Birdies for Bigs and Countdown to Kickoff)
· Create project plans (timelines, tasks, milestones, budgets) for each event, ensuring that individual activities necessary for success are scheduled and accounted for in a timely manner.
· Recruit, and coordinate participation of BBBSCMO staff, board members, and outside volunteers to serve on committees and/or assist with event details as necessary.
Manage donors and constituents through agency CRM/donor database software.
Develop and implement donor solicitation plans from individuals, private foundations, corporate partners, grant funders and special events.
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals capable of donating $1,000+.
Lead donor stewardship processes, prospect research and ensure that Agency CRM database and donor-acknowledgement systems function at a high level of quality and timeliness (gift entry, database management, report generation).
Make a minimum of 3 donor or potential donor visits a month.
Make staff and board aware of promotions, implementation, messaging, and brand guidelines.
Ensure agency is maintaining Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s brand standards for print and digital communications, agency signage, and recruitment materials.
Develop and implement an agency-wide communications schedule including a quarterly newsletter.
Oversee print and digital mailing lists for fundraising events, annual fund campaigns and other agency communications.
Track and evaluate results of donor outreach efforts.
Create daily content and track metrics for social media platforms.
Manage and maintain agency web presence ensuring that information is dynamic, current, and correct while tracking metrics for monthly reporting.
Develop, design and distribute the agency’s annual report.
Facilitate bi-monthly Board and Fund Development Committee Meeting.
Participate in Leadership Team to coordinate fundraising and marketing activities.
Plan and facilitate weekly Development Meeting. Communicate areas of concern, focus, and/or action.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Work Experience:
Education Level: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, education, sales or related fields.
Work Experience: 2-5 years in fund development or related work. Experience in marketing preferred. 2-5 years of experience in non-profit fundraising preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proven track record of recruiting and managing volunteer fundraising committees, graphic design creation, storytelling, strategic implementation and working closely with Boards of Directors.
Ability to make meaningful connections and serve as a visible representative of BBBSCMO in the community through networking events, speaking engagements, donor meetings, and partnership activities.
2-5 years of experience in fundraising experience (some experience in sales/marketing/business development may substitute for part of this requirement).
Proven track record of securing major and annual gifts and solicitation and support of corporate sponsorships to meet financial goals.
Experience with coordinating and implementing fundraising events.
Able to manage relationships with outside vendors or contacts for agency.
Detail-oriented, organized self-starter and problem solver; able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with varying levels of urgency to meet deadlines with no loss in accuracy
Creative; able to develop and drive idea from conception to goal.
Create, plan and implement an effective marketing strategy surrounding donor solicitations and events. This includes social media campaigns, recruiting, public relations opportunities and marketing materials.
Able to work flexible schedules as necessary to support special events and projects to include some evenings and weekends.
Able to deal effectively with people in order to get work accomplished; adjust own interpersonal approach to fit the interpersonal style/needs of others; recognize the impact of one’s behavior on others; build a network of internal and external contacts to meet job responsibilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service in person and via telephone and email, including the ability to communicate the Agency's vision and goals and the impact of donations and make giving personally meaningful.
Ability to relate well in diverse environments, maintain confidentiality, collaborate with others, use time effectively, and be detail focused.
The Development and Marketing Manager is expected to proactively identify opportunities to grow community engagement, increase fundraising revenue, and expand organizational visibility

Travel
Must have automobile, valid driver’s license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums
Travel as required, typically within state of Missouri.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
Routine office environment. Flexible schedule to meet donors needs including some evenings and weekends. Travel required, as stated above. Physical demands as able.
