West Shore Community College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Adjunct Professor to teach at least one section (with potential to teach three sections) of English Composition I and Writing Essentials on campus (in-person) starting Fall 2026. The successful candidate will have a strong background in English composition, and demonstrate a commitment to fostering student learning and academic growth.
Part-time faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester-by-semester basis as needed.
Job Duties:
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the diverse needs of our student population.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students develop as college level writers.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills.
- Maintain academic standards and address all provided student learning objectives.
- Prepare syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with college guidelines.
- Monitor student progress and meet with students outside of class as needed.
- Use the learning management system to post course materials and grades.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a master’s degree in English, Composition, or a related discipline, OR a master's degree in any field and at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in Composition
- Demonstrated competency and experience in online college composition instruction
Experience teaching varied student populations (for example, high school as well as college students), a plus, but not required.
Competitive wage pay for this position is based on degree and course contact hours. EOE
