Job Summary:
Wyndham Virginia Beach Oceanfront is seeking an experienced and motivated Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our housekeeping team. As a Housekeeping Supervisor, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring that our guest rooms and public areas meet the highest cleanliness standards. You will be responsible for managing a team of housekeepers, coordinating tasks, and providing leadership and training. This role requires someone with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to supervising and supporting staff. Must be able to open and close the department and complete the proper paperwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping staff to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for all guests.
- Assign and inspect tasks for housekeepers, including room cleaning, public areas, and other spaces within the hotel.
- Monitor the quality of cleaning, ensuring that guest rooms, corridors, bathrooms, and public spaces are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards.
- Provide training, mentorship, and ongoing support to housekeepers to ensure consistency and efficiency in job performance.
- Maintain housekeeping supplies inventory and ensure that staff has the necessary equipment and materials to complete their tasks.
- Perform routine inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure that they meet cleanliness and quality standards.
- Communicate guest complaints or special requests in a professional and timely and effective manner, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Track and report performance and any issues to the Housekeeping Manager in a timely and effective manner.
- Be prepared to walk 4,000 to 10,000 steps per shift, including some stairs, depending on the location within the hotel.
- Adhere to Wyndham's health and safety standards and assist in creating a safe working environment for staff.
- Assist with administrative tasks as requested by Housekeeping Manager.
Qualifications:
- Must have reliable transportation as public transportation is not reliable in this area.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to provide training and motivation to staff in a positive and supportive manner.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to walk, stand, and lift for extended periods (up to 10,000 steps per shift).
- Attention to detail and a passion for maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Positive attitude with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and handle fast-paced work situations.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, stretch, and lift 40+ lbs.
- Comfortable working on your feet for long periods of time.
- Able to climb stairs and perform other physical tasks as needed.
