We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accuracy in medical coding, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties
- Process and review patient billing information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize medical coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9) to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on outstanding invoices and ensuring timely collections.
- Maintain detailed records of billing transactions and patient accounts.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
- Provide support for audits related to billing and coding processes.
- Assist in training new staff on billing procedures and software systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10, ICD-9), DRG, and medical records management.
- Familiarity with medical office systems and software used for billing processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Certification in medical coding or billing is a plus but not required.
