About the Role:
ON FLOORINGS is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Flooring Estimator to join our estimating team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate flooring takeoffs, material quantities, labor calculations, and project cost estimates for residential and commercial projects.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of flooring materials, construction plans, measurements, and estimating processes who can produce accurate and timely estimates while maintaining close attention to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural drawings, floor plans, specifications, and project documents.
- Perform accurate flooring quantity takeoffs and calculate required square footage.
- Estimate materials, labor, installation requirements, waste factors, and project costs.
- Prepare detailed estimates for hardwood, laminate, vinyl/LVT, tile, carpet, concrete, linoleum, rubber flooring, timber flooring, and other flooring systems.
- Identify rooms, areas, transitions, patterns, layouts, and other project requirements from construction plans.
- Account for subfloor conditions, project complexity, obstructions, and installation requirements when preparing estimates.
- Use digital measurement and estimating software to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare professional material lists, cost breakdowns, and estimate reports.
- Review estimates for discrepancies, missing information, and calculation errors before submission.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, builders, and project teams regarding scope, quantities, and pricing.
- Update estimates when project plans, material specifications, or scope of work change.
- Maintain organized records of project estimates and supporting documentation.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in flooring estimating, construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and residential flooring materials and installation methods.
- Experience reading architectural drawings and construction plans.
- Proficiency with estimating or takeoff software such as PlanSwift, MeasureSquare, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar platforms.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve estimating issues independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience with commercial construction projects is a plus.
Pay: $52,500.00 - $69,200.00 per year
